Shop Floor Control: Discrete
Shop floor control work order systems must provide flexibility, ease-of-use, and discrete or job level cost tracking. Vanguard’s Shop Floor Control: Discrete (SFC:D) application makes it easy to create and manage shop work orders -for production, for machine or other maintenance activities, for rework, for construction, for the manufacture of prototypes - you define the work order types and use SFC:D to provide the control, scheduling, reporting and costing.
SFC:D allows you to report production activity, and provides the information required to manage the people and processes of manufacturing. SFC:D is integrated with SFC:R - so you can use work orders to control some items, or use work orders only for prototype construction - and view a single shop schedule. SFC:D production reporting can utilize data collection systems, RF barcode systems, or on-line entry.
All of the critical production data you need is easily recorded, including good production, scrap (with reason codes), rework (with ticket number), labor (employee or team reporting with optional timecard feed to Payroll) time and costs, machine time, setup time (and labor), and component usage (backflush or actual). Projects can be established to track project costs, with multiple work orders issued against a project.
Key benefits of Discrete Shop Floor Control
- Project and work order cost tracking
- Supports Customer-funded engineering and prototype construction
- Improved scheduling capability - on-line schedules are updated with production -
accurate view of remaining production - On-line or data collection production reporting
- Downtime reporting and machine utilization
- Efficiency reporting and performance versus the shop schedule
- Capture actual material & labor & scrap - complete history of production -
ability to calculate average actual manufacturing costs
Key features of Discrete Shop Floor Control
- Soft bills and routings can be defined per work order - optional: copy an existing bill and routing
- Track project costs (as accumulated on work orders) from SFC:D labor and production
reporting and from AP invoices - Track committed amounts on open PO’s by project and work order
- Work orders may be created for a ‘description’- item numbers are not required - e.g. machine maintenance or other labor activities
- Forward or backward scheduling - include or remove setup time, queue time, move time; and overlap operations with minimum move quantity
- Automatic scheduling from MRP recommendations
- Manual scheduling and schedule changes - schedules by date/shift/time
- Report production by work order - optional backflush
- WIP visibility by work order and operation
- Production activity reporting by employee or team
- Production reporting for labor and material concurrently - or separate reporting
- Scrap reporting by operation - with scrap reason codes
- Rework reporting by rework ticket
- Machine time and setup time reporting
- Analysis of production efficiency, labor efficiency and scrap
- Downtime and machine utilization reporting
- Track material or component substitutions
- Cumulative production by item is tracked by routing operation
- Average production rates
- Report against alternate routings
- Report production by tool and cycle
